RBA(Reserve Bank of Australia) is expected to release its Meeting Minutes for the rate decision 2 weeks ago; and if you remember, it was a surprise to the currency market as a whole as RBA hiked it’s Cash Rate by 25 basis points, from 3.00% to 3.25%. As with most analysts, I didn’t expect RBA to hike rates until 2010, and I was genuinely surprised by this decision, and of course, market responded with a frenzied demand for AUD and pushed AUD/USD pair to new 2009 highs.
That’s why this Meeting Minutes is so interesting, as we’ll get indepth insight over the process of arriving to such decision, and maybe also a glimpse into the future RBA monetary policy… Therefore, I’ll be around and try to trade this release, but my expectation will mostly be for my own understanding and future prediction of AUD/USD trend and not necessarily a trading opportunity; as the minutes could very well be a repeat of recent RBA rhetoric.
As this release is considered as untradable news event, although a potentially high impact release, maybe it is best to stay out of the market until the impact is over, or just listening in to the release and maybe pick up some pips? Since this is going to be a highly subjective trade, I won’t be sending alerts to my list, but I’ll try to trade it and post the results back.
